Meet Dr. Brett Shannon
Occupational Doctor and Post Doctoral Research AssociateDr Shannon is an experienced Director, previously the Chair of the Brisbane Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Health service. He is a postdoctoral research associate at the Division of Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences, School of Public Health, University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) with an interest in contributing to a greater understanding of the impact of occupational and environmental exposures on the health of Indigenous populations globally. His most recent research has spanned across several areas including Indigenous occupational health; assault and violence; precarious working conditions and health outcomes; health and wellbeing of specific occupational groups including miners, law enforcement officials and rideshare drivers; opioid use in subpopulations; and the impact of climate and heat on work related injuries.
