Meet Dr. Brett Shannon

Dr Shannon is an experienced Director, previously the Chair of the Brisbane Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Health service. He is a postdoctoral research associate at the Division of Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences, School of Public Health, University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) with an interest in contributing to a greater understanding of the impact of occupational and environmental exposures on the health of Indigenous populations globally. His most recent research has spanned across several areas including Indigenous occupational health; assault and violence; precarious working conditions and health outcomes; health and wellbeing of specific occupational groups including miners, law enforcement officials and rideshare drivers; opioid use in subpopulations; and the impact of climate and heat on work related injuries.
