What does an Occupational and Environmental Physician (OEP) do, and how can they contribute to my patients’ care?
Occupational and environmental physicians are specialists within the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) who operate at the intersection of work and health. Their primary goal is to prevent workplace injuries and illnesses, but when accidents occur, they are experts in helping individuals return to normal life and work.
Modern advances in the management of common musculoskeletal conditions aren’t always reflected in frontline practice. OEPs utilise the most up-to-date, evidence-based treatment to help injured workers recover more quickly and return to normal living, reducing suffering along the way. Also, OEPs are well-versed in navigating the administrative complexities of compensation schemes, helping to alleviate the burden for both you and your patients.
What kind of treatment can an OEP provide to a patient?
