Why Choose Phoenix Occupational Medicine?

Phoenix Occupational Medicine was created by the directors of LIME Medicolegal with the express purpose to deliver effective interventions to help prevent occupational injury and illness and ensure access to best practice treatment – at the right time. Fed up with seeing unnecessary injury and illness in patients in their medicolegal practice, Dr Sid Oā€™Toole and Dr Angus Forbes launched Phoenix Occupational Medicine in mid 2019. Phoenix Occupational Medicine exists to improve the health of Australian workers. We believe that people deserve the best outcomes for their health and that people can and do get better.

Weā€™re a bit different from others in the industry:

We are forthright

We stand behind our services and how we deliver them. If we offer a service, we deliver outcomes that make a genuine difference in the health of Australia workers ā€“ not simply a token response or checking a box.

We tell it how it is. Our evidence based approach means if we get challenged about a decision we make ā€“ we know we can back it based on our understanding of current medical research. Our directors are known for their approachable style and are regularly sought as presenters for conferences and webinars.

We deliver quality

Phoenix Occupational Medicine has achieved ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 certification – ISO 9001 focuses on quality management, while ISO 27001 ensures the protection of sensitive information.

ISO 9001 sets criteria for a quality management system, particularly important in healthcare. Quality management means ensuring that we provide consistent, reliable care to our patients and clients. This includes everything from injury management consultations to pre-employment health screenings, ensuring compliance with Australian healthcare standards.

ISO 27001 focuses on protecting sensitive information, crucial in healthcare. Handling sensitive patient and client data is central to our work in occupational medicine. From medical assessments to injury reports, ISO 27001 ensures that all information is securely managed according to Australian privacy laws, like the Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

We are accessible

We have built ā€˜accessibleā€™ into everything that we do, from the design to the delivery of our services:

We talk with injured or ill workers ā€“ giving reassurance about their health and their progress ā€“ either via telemedicine or in person.
We continue the care for injured or ill workers – advising their employers appropriately about the duties they can safely perform ā€“ while respecting patient confidentiality.
We provide continuity of care for our patients – providing rapid appointments when their GP or other specialist refers to us.Ā
We visit worksites – meaning we deliver occupational medical advice in context.
We share our knowledge and connect with peak industry bodies to educate and build capacity in the occupational health workforce.

Usually we can see a patient referred to
us by a GP or other specialist within a week
