Phoenix Occupational Medicine provides a comprehensive range of alcohol and drug management services to ensure workplace safety and compliance. As your trusted partner, we help businesses implement effective policies, conduct testing, and manage any non-negative test results with the support of certified Medical Review Officer (MRO) services. Our goal is to maintain a healthy, safe, and productive workforce while ensuring that both employers and employees are protected.
Alcohol and drug management is a set of services and policies designed to help organisations detect and manage substance use in the workplace.
Phoenix Occupational Medicine offers testing, policy development, and management of positive or non-negative results. We work with businesses to establish Drug and Alcohol management programs (DAMPs) that safeguard workersā health, prevent workplace accidents, and ensure compliance with regulations.
An effective drug and alcohol management plan protects both your workers and your business. Phoenix Occupational Medicine supports businesses in implementing testing programs, conducting risk assessments, managing medication declarations, and providing fast, confidential results interpretation.
Drug and Alcohol Management programs ensure that employees are fit for duty and reduce the risk of accidents caused by impairment. Our services also help businesses navigate legal and regulatory requirements, promoting a safer, more compliant workplace.
Our doctors are certified by the Australasian Medical Review Officers Association (AMROA) to assess and manage workers with substance abuse concerns.
We offer everything from pre-employment screening to ongoing random drug and alcohol tests, ensuring workplace safety.
Each Drug and Alcohol Management Program (DAMP) is customised to fit the specific needs of your business, helping manage risk and promote worker health and safety.
Our MRO services ensure that test results are reviewed and interpreted accurately, with confidentiality and fairness in mind.
A Medical Review Officer (MRO) is a registered physician, accredited by AMROA, who has expertise in all aspects of Workplace Drug and Alcohol testing. At Phoenix Occupational Medicine, our MROs have extensive experience in:
– Assisting organisations to develop DAMPs, that ensure all workers are kept safe and managed respectfully.
– Determining safe work for individuals who test non-negative whilst awaiting laboratory confirmation.Ā
– Providing expert analysis of laboratory confirmatory testing and validating the source of the substance detected (i.e. prescription medication).
MROs provide a report to the employer advising what actions may be required to keep the worker and others safe at work.
A non-negative result suggests that a substance may be present in the system, but it is not a confirmed positive. Further testing, such as GC-MS, is required to validate the results. Our MROs oversee this process to ensure accuracy and fairness.
If a positive result is confirmed, our MRO will review any potential medical explanations, such as prescription drug use. This ensures that the final decision is informed, fair, and compliant with legal standards.
Testing typically involves breath alcohol tests, as well as urine or saliva screenings for drugs. These tests detect substances that could impair work performance, and they are used pre-employment, randomly, or after an incident.
At Phoenix Occupational Medicine, our team of certified professionals bring years of experience in occupational health and safety.
From designing AOD programs to managing non-negative test results through our MRO services, we provide comprehensive, reliable solutions.
Our commitment to confidentiality and fairness ensures that every aspect of drug and alcohol testing is handled with professionalism and care, helping you create a safer, more productive workplace.
